The Bliss of Self-Acceptance

By Kathryn Corbin

“Your only real problem is that you have forgotten who you are.” – A Course in Miracles

Once upon a time in meditation, I received a crystal clear message that I am absolutely and eternally wonderful; and the only problem I have ever had is not knowing that.

Really? The only problem I have ever had is not knowing I’m wonderful? Wow!

In that moment, I was freed from my lifetime belief that there was something wrong with me.

In that moment, I really understood that I could stop trying to fix myself because I wasn’t ever broken.

In that moment, along with the realization that I am absolutely and eternally wonderful, came the knowing that so is everyone else. Huge! Life changing! Blissful!

Over the next few weeks and months, as I settled into this joyful and empowering knowledge, I began to shift from a focus on self-improvement to a focus on self-acceptance.

From the age of about 19, I had been a self-improvement junkie. I read every book and took every course that promised to make me a better, happier person and to fix what was wrong with me.

But, for me, that lifelong commitment to self-improvement had been based on the belief that,if I just worked hard enough, I could overcome all the terrible things that were certainly wrong with me and finally become “good enough.”

Self-improvement driven by a belief in not being good enough is both endless and unfulfilling.

Imagine for a moment how it would feel to simply accept yourself – who you are, everything you’ve ever done or not done, how much you weigh, how much money you make – everything about yourself just the way you are.

There’s a fear, I know. You might be thinking it right now. It goes like this: “Well, if I really accept myself, won’t I lose all motivation to do anything and stop trying altogether and just live in my pajamas?” Nope! In fact, it’s exactly the opposite. Rather than zapping motivation, full self-acceptance actually frees energy and creativity and makes real self-improvement much easier and much more fun.

From the high vibration of self-acceptance:

* you’re aligned with Source, with Who You Really Are

* you’re a vibrational match to your desires

* you feel worthy and deserving

* you release judgment and fully accept others

* you broadcast a vibration that allows others to fully accept you

Transformational Process. If you’re willing to give self-acceptance a try, contemplate this prayer for 5 minutes a day for one week:

“Oh, God, show me the truth about myself,no matter how beautiful it is.” – Macrina Weiderkher

Do this process and, at the end of one week, you’ll be well on your way to feeling the relief, the high vibration, and the bliss of self-acceptance.
