“Imagine a room fan blowing air at you, very quietly. You know it’s on. You feel the air. You can’t hear it, but you can feel it. Now stick your pencil in the fan. That pencil in the fan would make quite a racket. Wouldn’t it? That pencil in the fan would slow the fan. So you would say the pencil in the fan is resistance. In other words, it slows the motion, or lowers the speed, of the fan. Well, resistance, in your physical realm, in terms of Energy, is the same thing. – Abraham-Hicks
Resistance is the only thing that prevents you from living your best life and having what you want. It comes in the form of negative emotions (anger, fear, resentment, pessimism, etc.) and beliefs of lack, scarcity, and unworthiness.
Resistance lowers your vibration and slows your energy down so you can’t catch up to the life you want to create for yourself. In order for the Universe to deliver what you want, it has to receive a clear energetic signal.
Resistance causes interference in the broadcast, similar to getting static on a radio. The message becomes scrambled. Removing these blocks clears the airwaves, so to speak. With resistance out of the way, you can start sending a strong message about what you want. When the Universe receives a clear signal from you, it can, and will, bring you anything and everything you desire.
The Universe responds to your vibration not your words. Since releasing resistance raises your vibration, it is worth taking the time to let go of anything that is not for your highest good; all negative emotions, old limiting beliefs, and detrimental habits. When you’re “in the flow” and vibrationally aligned, you feel more aware, connected, energized, and tuned in.

Fortunately, there are a number of easy ways that you can release resistance, including enjoying nature, taking a nap, and petting your dog. But if you want fast and powerful techniques to get the job done, check out the methods below.
First, connect with your Inner Being and ask for help in releasing resistance. Also ask, “What resistance am I holding on to and what is the best way for me to release it?” Sit quietly for several minutes and be aware of what comes up. If an answer does not come to you right away, trust that the answer will be revealed to you in time.
Next, choose at least one of the following methods every day to release resistance and clean up your vibration. It would be ideal if you can make time daily for all three but any one of them will be beneficial and start you on your way to a higher vibrational frequency.
- Appreciation. Appreciation and love are identical vibrations. Appreciation is the absence of resistance. If all you did was look for things to appreciate you would live a happy, joyous life. Write a list of the things in your life that you appreciate and are thankful for. The longer your list the better.
- Meditation. When you relax and quiet your mind, your attention is turned away from what holds your vibration in a lower place. It only takes 10 to 15 minutes a day of meditation to significantly improve your life.
- EFT Tapping. This is one of the most effective techniques I know of to release resistance. In a nutshell, it is acupuncture without needles. If you are not familiar with EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) Tapping, I highly recommend taking the time to learn. It is an invaluable tool for releasing negative emotions, letting go of old beliefs, and neutralizing the charge of unpleasant memories from your past.
Releasing resistance is critical in manifesting what you want and living a positive life. When you set the intention to let go of anything that is not serving you, your life will transform and you will thrive.
